Frequently asked questions
What is Shock Diamonds?
It’s an educational visualization of compressible gas flow that shows how Mach diamonds form in 3D. It is not a professional engineering or safety tool.
Does the app track me?
No. There is no tracking, analytics, or user account system.
Can I add my own 3D model?
Yes. You can import a custom 3D model. We fully support USDZ; other formats may work, but USDZ provides the most reliable results.
Do you offer refunds or manage subscriptions here?
There are no in-app subscriptions or accounts. Purchases and refunds are handled by the App Store according to Apple’s policies.
Troubleshooting
Performance feels slow or device gets warm
Shock Diamonds runs a real-time 3D compressible-gas simulation and rendering pipeline. This is computationally intensive and can tax mobile GPUs/CPUs, which may reduce frame rate or generate noticeable heat.
- If your device becomes too warm, close the app and allow it to cool before continuing.
- Close other apps to free memory and GPU.
- Ensure Low Power Mode is off for best performance.
- Restart the device if it’s been a while since the last reboot.
The app crashes or freezes
- Update to the latest version of Shock Diamonds and iOS/iPadOS/macOS.
- Try a device restart. If it persists, email us with steps to reproduce.
The simulation becomes unstable
- Lower the Mach speed or the pressure ratio and try again.
- Extremely aggressive settings can push the simulation outside stable ranges.
Model import fails or looks incorrect
- We currently fully support USDZ files.
- We also attempt to load other common 3D formats the best we can.
- If something doesn’t look right, try a different model, or convert your model to USDZ and re-import.
Privacy
This app does not collect personal data, does not create accounts, and does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Crash information may be available via Apple’s systems if you’ve opted in to share diagnostics with developers in system settings. Such reports are used solely to improve stability.
If you email us for support, we will receive your email address and the content you send. We use it only to respond to your request. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
